A Fall Wreath Version 2012

Howdy, Howdy!

You know how sometimes you are blog hopping/stalking/spending-all-your-free-time-at-night-looking-at-crafts-on-the-internet-and-you-wonder-why-your-house-didn't-magically-clean-itself and you stumble across something that you want to make right away?  Well, that happened with me the other day while on Pinterest.  It is such a simple idea and it was super easy, although a little time consuming.  But still, this is easily a make-while-you're-watching-a-movie kind of project.  Now, because I wasn't in blog mode while working on this I didn't take step by step pictures.  So, I'll give credit where I saw it and link back to Becoming Martha's website so you can see her tutorial.  I would like to add a little more information though.

1.  She doesn't ever say how much burlap she actually used.  I think I added more 'bubble's to my wreath than she did and ended up using exactly 2 yards.

2.  Don't take the time to perfectly measure your burlap.  It will NOT be worth it in the end since the burlap frays, and the bubbles are not supposed to be perfect or the wreath would get boring.  I really just eyeballed my cuts and some of them were more like 4 x 6 and it doesn't matter at all.

3.  I used an 18 inch straw wreath from Hobby Lobby.  I liked the $4.99 price tag much better than the $11.99 price for the styrofoam she used.  I didn't even bother taking the plastic wrapping off so the straw would not get all over.

4.  I obviously used a different letter and paper than she did.  This is why I love crafting.....one idea leads to so many different versions!

I took this pictures at night so they're not the best but you can get the idea of what it looks like on my door.  I am thinking about maybe doing this for a craft club in the next week or two.  If you live in the Utah County area and would be interested in attending leave me a comment.  The cost will be $25.00.  If I can get a few people signed up at this late notice I will get a date planned!

P.S. Let's just ignore the 9 month gap since my last post, shall we?  Let's just say, it's not for a lack of projects.  But mostly, I have been working on some personal issues and since I don't blog to make money, it kind of took a back seat.

December, 2011 Craft Club!

The email on this one has gone out but in case I missed anyone here is what we will be making for the December craft club!  I have had a thing for candy canes for the past couple of years and thought it would be fun to finally make something instead of just thinking about them.  Also, a few things about craft club have changed.

1)  You can purchase a kit and finish the product on your own!

or

2)  If you don't want to make it yourself I will finish yours for an additional fee!

Here are the details...Club will be held on December 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.  Money is due by November 19, 2011.  Unfinished kits are $10.00 (you will be on your own for the paint and glue), finished kits are $12.50 and if you want me to make yours the price is $17.50.  Send me an email at mapleandvine@hotmail.com if you are interested in joining the mailing list for future crafts and/or the December craft.  Let me know if you have any questions about craft club!  If you live outside the Utah County area and are interested in the craft send me an email and I'll see what we can work out for shipping.

Hope you can make it!

Craft Club!

October's get together was reset to Tuesday, October 26th.  We were few in numbers this month (probably my fault for not getting the announcement early enough) but still a lot of fun.  Here are how my little cuties turned out.

Given my late notice last month I wanted to avoid the same for our next get together.  I don't have all of the details worked out yet but I am so excited for these absolutely beautiful wreaths.  It will be held on December 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.  I anticipate the cost will be between $20 and $25.  Also, I won't necessarily have the same colors available as shown here.  Remember, all money will be due to me by November 20th and I will email everyone the rest of the details within the next week or so.  If you have any questions either leave a post or send an email to mapleandvine@hotmail.com.

Hope you can join us!

Craft Club Announcement!

For months I have been searching for a great October craft and unfortunately every project I decided on either wouldn't work because I couldn't find all of the necessary supplies or it would take too long to dry etc. etc.  Well just about 5 minutes ago I stumbled on the most adorable little fabric pumpkins and knew they would be perfect!  So, if anyone is still interested in joining me on October 23rd at 10:00 a.m. email me at mapleandvine@hotmail.com or leave a comment here.  The cost will be $5.00 per pumpkin and you can make as many as you want.  The only supply that will be required is for you to bring your own newspaper and I can let everyone who is coming know how much at a later time.  Can't make it but would like to make these cuties?  Don't despair!  I can put together a kit with super easy instructions on how to make them.  I will need to have all money to me by Wednesday, October 20th to hold your spot.
Hope you can join us!

Success!

Today's craft club get together was a huge success!  I should have taken pictures of everyone elses finished products but didn't think about it until it was too late.  Here are the ones I made which are now hanging in Brooklen's room above her bed.  I think they are the perfect combination of dainty and rustic mixed into one.  She loves them and so do I!  Details on October's craft will be posted soon!  If you want to learn more about the Craft Club look up the post by scrolling down or clicking on the Creating tab at the top!  If you have any questions let me know!

Craft Club!

A few months ago I started a craft club because it seems as though I'm always finding cute things I want to make but never do.  I'll save pictures and think that someday I'll have time to make it and it never happens.  In order to actually make some of these cute projects but not be too overwhelmed I came up with the club idea.  It is a great way to get together with friends and have a good time.  We've only met once but it was fun and even more people are coming to the next one.  Now that this website is finally up and running (ya, only sort-of since we haven't posted much yet, but eventually that will change I promise!) I plan on running the club through here.  Let me give you a quick run down of how it works.

1.  We meet every six weeks on a Saturday.  Time and place to be determined by how many are participating and the craft we are making.  The remaining dates for 2010 are September 11 at 10:00 a.m. October 23rd and December 4th.  Of course, there may be cancellations or changes to this as necessary.

2.  I will come up with the project ideas (any suggestions are welcome) and will try to keep them around $20.00 or under.  If you are not interested in the project for that week's club you simply don't have to participate that time!  I will have the next project idea ready to announce when the group meets and will also send an email for those who did not attend.  I will try and do my best to keep the projects varied so we are not always making similar items.

3.  All projects must be paid for IN ADVANCE!  I simply cannot do IOU's.  All money needed to purchase supplies will be due 2 weeks prior to the meeting which will count as your RSVP.  That will allow me sufficient time to get all supplies purchased and the prep work done.

4.  As mentioned I will do as much of the prep work (such as cutting, sanding, base coats of paint etc.) as I can.  I hope this will allow us sufficient time to actually complete what we start!  I hate when I don't have enough time to finish something in one go-round!

5.  You may need to bring your own supplies periodically and I will let you know when that is necessary.

6.  Come and have fun!

So, are you interested in joining me in September?  Here's what we'll be making:

I got the idea off a cute blog I like, http://www.treyandlucy.blogspot.com/.

Anyway, there will be a wide variety of colors to choose from so you should be able to make anything fit your needs.  The cost for all 4 is $10.00.  A set of 2 is $5.00.  Not bad right?  I know some of the gals coming are making these as Christmas gifts.

If you are interested in participating in this group please send me an email at mapleandvine@hotmail.com and I will add you to the "official" list!  Money for the September craft is due tomorrow, August 28th.  I'm obviously cutting this close so I can push that out to September 8th for you newbies!  If you have any questions at all either leave a comment or send me an email.

Hope to see you there!
